Guptill most run scorer, Southee most wicket taker in BD-NZ series

DHAKA, Feb 21, 2019 (BSS) – New Zealand opener Martil Guptill emerged as the most run scorer in the just concluded Bangladesh-New Zealand three-match ODI series that concluded on Wednesday.

Guptill scored 264 runs from three matches including two centuries with an average of 132.00 while Sabbir Rahman was the second highest run taker making 158 runs from three matches including a century with an impressive average of 52.66.

Another New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor become the third most run taker in the series scoring 135 from three matches including a half century with an average of 135.00 while Henry Nicholls emerged as the fourth most run scorer making 131 from three matches including two half centuries with an average of 74.1.

Besides, Mohammad Mithun of Bangladesh become the fifth most run scorer making 119 runs from two matches including two half centuries with an average of 59.50.

Guptill also emerged as high scorer in the series with 118 runs while Sabbir Rahman followed him 102 runs. New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor finished third high scorer with 69 runs while his fellow mate Kane Williamson become the fourth high scorer in the series with unbeaten 65.

On the other hand, New Zealand pacer Tim Southee emerged as the most wicket taker in the series taking six wickets from one match with an average of 10.83 while his fellow mate Trent Boult finished behind Southee also taking six wickets from three matches with an average of 21.00.

Another New Zealand pacer grabbed five wickets to finish third, most wicket taker in the series from three matches with an average of 27.40 while

Mustafizur Rahman emerged as the fourth most wicket taker picking up four wickets from three matches with an average of 42.75 while Matt Henry finished as the fifth most wicket taker taking three wickets two matches with an average of 26.00.

Southee also produced the best bowling figure in an innings taking six wickets giving away 65 runs from nine 9.2 over while Boult, Lockie Ferguson and Mitchell Santner finished second , third and fourth position with three wickets each in an innings giving away 40, 43 and 45 runs respectively.

New Zealand pacer

Besides, James Neesham claimed two wickets in an innings to finish fifth position giving away 21 runs.

New Zealand wicket keeper Tom Latham made the most dismissal behind the wicket with four dismissals and three catches and one stamping from three matches while Liton Das finished behind him with one stumping from one innings.

Bangladesh Mushfiqur Rahim made five dismissals behind the wicket with five catches. He also made three dismissals in an innings.

New Zealand opener Guptill took the most catches taking three catches from three matches while his fellow mate Colin Munro, Bangladesh’s Liton Das, Trent Boult, James Neesham, Tamim Iqbal and Ross Taylor all took two catches each to finish second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth position respectively.

New Zealand posted highest total of 330 for 6 in the third and final ODI in the series while Bangladesh scored the second highest total of 242 for all in the same match.

New Zealand scored the third highest team total of 233 for 2 in the first ODI while Bangladesh scored the fourth highest team’s total of 232 for all in the same matches.
