Each family of deceased to get Tk one lakh as compensation
DHAKA, Feb 21, 2019 (BSS) – Each family of the victims who were killed in
Chawkbazar fire will get Taka one lakh as compensation while each family of
the injured people will be given Taka 50,000.
State Minister for Labour and Employment Monnujan Sufian said the
financial assistance will be given to the victims’ families from the fund of
the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation (BLWF) under the Labour and
Employment Ministry, said a press release of the ministry today.
The officials of the Department of Inspection for Factories and
Establishments has already been asked to stand by the fire victims by
providing them proper treatment and necessary assistance, she said.
Monnujan conveyed her sympathy to the bereaved family members and prayed
for eternal peace of the people who were killed in the city fire.
She said a team of the Department of Inspection for Factories and
Establishments is now working with the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH)
for providing support to the fire victims.
The devastating fire was broke out on the ground floor of a five-storey
chemical godown located at Hazi Wahed Mansion in Old Dhaka last night. The
death toll from the fire has so far risen to 70 while more than 50 were
injured.
