CJ for ensuring journo’s entry to courtroom

DHAKA, Feb 20, 2019 (BSS) – Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain today
called upon court officials to ensure entry of journalists’ into courtroom
for the sake of transparency of judiciary.

“I attended a seminar in Ankara, Turkey. One of the topics of the
seminar was to ensure entry of the journalists to courtroom for the sake of
maintaining transparency in judiciary. It is now internationally established
that to maintain transparency in judiciary, you have to allow journalists
into courtroom,” the chief justice said.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain said these while inaugurating newly
renovated office of Law Reporters’ Forum (LRF) at Supreme Court this
afternoon.

“I am very much delighted to see that you got a place to sit and work. I
had said we would decorate it and we tried. I hope you would get to enjoy all
the facilities to carry out your work from here,” he said to LRF members.

The chief justice earlier inaugurated the office room after cutting the
ribbon and unveiled the annual publication of LRF.

Supreme Court Registrar General Dr. Md. Zakir Hossain, Appellate
Division Registrar Md. Badrul Alam Bhuiyan, High Court Division Registrar Md.
Golam Rabbani, Supreme Court Bar Association president Zaynul Abedin,
additional attorney general Mamtaz Uddin Fakir, senior jurist and former
general secretary of Supreme Court Bar AM Amin Uddin, former presidents of
LRF Faruque Qazi, Swapan Das Gupta, former general secretaries Qazi Abdul
Hannan, Wakil Ahmed Hiron and Didarul Alam, among others.

Presided over by LRF president Sayeed Ahmed Khan, the function was
conducted by Hasan Zabed.
