ACC approves charge-sheet against ex-govt official

DHAKA, Feb 19, 2019 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today
approved a charge-sheet against former deputy secretary Abu Md Nurul Islam
and his wife Dilruba Khanom in a case filed or acquiring illegal wealth.

ACC gave the approval of submission of the charge-sheet to the court under
sections 26 (2) and 27 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 and
section 109 of the Penal Code.

The case was filed with Doublemuring Police Station in Chattogram on April
26 in 2016.

ACC in its investigation into the case found that Dilruba had earned
movable and immovable properties worth about Taka 90,86,818. But, she had
failed to show documents of income against the properties.

Her husband Nurul Islam mainly earned the properties misusing his power
while he was deputy secretary of the government and named those after his
wife to evade legal action for amassing illegal wealth.

Dilruba in his wealth statement also concealed information of acquiring
wealth of Taka 28,36,568.
