Condolences on Freedom Fighter Momtaz Uddin’s death

DHAKA, Feb 17, 2019 (BSS) – State minister for foreign affairs Md Shahriar Alam, state minister for shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Whip of Jatiya Sangsad Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapon today expressed condolence over the death of veteran Freedom Fighter, Awami League (AL) Central Working Committee Member and Bogura District AL President Alhaj Md Momtaz Uddin.

In separate condolence messages issued here, they prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Shahriar Alam, in his message, said “The country has lost a true and brave patriot at his death as he had played a pivotal role in all the democratic movements including Liberation War of 1971”.

Khalid, in his message, said the country would remember Momtaz’s contribution as an organiser of all democratic movements, including the Liberation War. The nation has lost a patriotic, dedicated and popular politician, he added.

Swapon, in his message, recalled the contribution of the elderly leader in the politics.

Momtaz Uddin died of old-age complications at a hospital in Bogura early this morning at the age of 78.

He is survived by wife, two sons, two daughters and a host of relatives and admirers.
