‘Halal Expo’ in city in Ramadan
DHAKA, Feb 17, 2019 (BSS) – The government is going to organise a ‘Halal Expo’ in the forthcoming Ramadan for creating awareness among the people about halal products.
The information was made public at a view exchange meeting on “Creating Market and Awareness for Halal Products” at Agargaon Islamic Foundation office in the city, said a press release.
Islamic Foundation Director General Shamim Mohammad Afjal presided over the meeting while Secretary of the Islamic Foundation Kazi Nurul Islam and Director of the Halal Certificate Department M Abul Kalam, among others, were present at the meeting.
Shamim Mohammad Afjal said Islamic Foundation is the only state-owned body to certify the country’s “halal” products.
“Some organizations are providing halal certificates illegally. Action will be taken against those who are providing halal certificates illegally,” he said.
Islamic Foundation has been providing halal certificates since 2007 for easing marketing of halal products in different countries across the globe.
