Stars win toss and bowl against Renegades in Big Bash final

MELBOURNE, Feb 17, 2019 (BSS/AFP) – The Stars will bowl first in an all-
Melbourne Big Bash League Twenty20 final Sunday against cross-town rivals the
Renegades, the culmination of a near two-month tournament.

Skipper Glenn Maxwell won the toss at Docklands Stadium on what has
previously been a quick wicket.

“We’ve played some pretty cricket up to now, the team has hit form at the
right time,” said Maxwell, who made one change to his Stars side from the
semi-finals with Jackson Bird in for Evan Gulbis. “We are very relaxed.”

Melbourne Renegades captain Aaron Finch named an unchanged team and was
happy, saying he would have batted first if he had won the toss.

“Going to be a great spectacle,” he added.

The two sides met twice in the group stages, with the Stars winning both
times, thanks to standout performances with the bat and ball by Marcus
Stoinis.

The Renegades are playing their first BBL final, while the Stars were
beaten finalists at home to Sydney Thunder in 2016.
