Dr Wazed Miah served the nation selflessly

RANGPUR, Feb 17, 2019 (BSS) – Noted nuclear scientist and Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina’s husband Dr M A Wazed Miah served the nation selflessly with
the highest degree of honesty and patriotism.

Officials and civil society members made these observations on Saturday
night at a memorial discussion organised by Dr Wazed Smriti Sangshad (DWSS)
at Town Hall here in celebration of the 78th birthday of Dr Wazed.

Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Joynul Bari attended the discussion on the
life and works of Dr Wazed as the chief guest.

Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib and Additional Police Super Saifur Rahman
Saif addressed as special guests.

Social workers and civil society members SM Sohrab Hossain, Wadud Ali and
Alhaj Tanvir Hossain Ashrafi also spoke.

Vice-president of DWSS Advocate Jitendra Nath presided over the discussion
moderated by its Joint Secretary Elahi Farooque.

Executive committee members of DWSS, professionals, intellectuals, socio-
cultural activists, local journalists, students, children and their guardians
attended the occasion.

General Secretary of DWSS Saiful Islam Jahangir delivered welcome speech
narrating personality, talent, life and contributions of Dr Wazed to building
a developed nation and materialise the dreams of Bangabandhu.

The speakers termed Dr Wazed as an incomparable man with excellent human
qualities saying that his ideals in serving the nation selflessly would
remain immortal as a source of national inspiration for the next generations.

The nation would always remember its great son Dr Wazed Miah, who was an
honest and humble man by character, thoughts and beliefs to serve the country
selflessly with the highest degree of patriotism, love and passion, they
said.

The chief guest said Dr Wazed dreamt for building an economically and
technologically developed Sonar Bangla and paved the way for flourishing
science education and conducting scientific research in the country.

“The young generations should follow ideals of Dr Wazed in building a
developed Bangladesh as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to realise
Bangabandhu’s dream in making independence meaningful for every citizen,” he
said.

Later, he distributed prizes, crests and certificates among 45 winners of
different competitions arranged for children by DWSS to end the birthday
celebration programmes of Dr Wazed at 9:30 pm.
