Valentine’s Day adds color in life

DHAKA, Feb 14, 2019 (BSS) -Valentine’s Day, which has turned into a
ceremonious day in Bangladesh in recent years like elsewhere in the world,
added a new dimension in festival loving Bangalees life as hundreds of youths
celebrated the day by exchanging flowers to their soul mates, friends and
dear and near ones.

Just a day after Pohela Falgun, the festival of welcoming the advent of
spring, youths in hundreds thronged different recreational centres, parks,
restaurants and different university campuses to celebrate the day.

The Valentine’s also added an extra color in Amar Ekushey Granthomela as a
huge number of youths wearing colorful traditional red or yellow attires
including sharees and panjabis crowed at the fair.

Dhaka University campus, Rabindra Sarabor, Dhanmondi Lake, Hatirjheel,
Ramna Park, Suhrawardy Udyan, Chandrima Udyan and other recreational centres
also saw a large number of people marking the day.

Originating as a Western Christian feast day honoring one or two early
saints named Valentinus, Valentine’s Day is recognized as a significant
cultural, religious and commercial celebration of romance and romantic love
in many regions around the world, although it is not a public holiday in any
country.

Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine is celebrated
annually on February 14.

Newspapers published special supplements marking the day while television
channels aired special programmes.
