The 78th birthday of Dr Wazed on Saturday
RANGPUR, Feb 14, 2019 (BSS) – The 78th birthday of noted nuclear
scientist and Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina’s husband Dr MA Wazed Miah will be
celebrated through various programmes in a befitting manner here on Saturday.
The internationally renowned nuclear scientist having a colourful
working life experience was born on February 16, 1942 in a respectable Muslim
family of Laldighee Fatehpur village in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur.
He died on May 9, 2009 at the age of 67.
A number of organisations have chalked out elaborate day-long programmes
to celebrate the 78th birthday of Dr Wazed in a befitting manner at village
Laldighee Fatehpur as well as in Rangpur city in the district.
The programmes include placing of wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed Miah,
offering Fateha, milad mahfils and special munajats, distribution of foods
among the poor and distressed people and memorial discussions.
Tazimul Islam Shamim, nephew of Dr Wazed, General Secretary of Pirganj
upazila Awami League (AL) and Pirganj Municipal Mayor, said the birthday
celebration will begin with placing of wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed in
the morning. Talking to BSS today, General Secretary of Dr Wazed Smriti
Sangshad (DWSS) Saiful Islam Jahangir said the organisation has completed
preparations to celebrate the 78th birthday of Dr Wazed through two-day
programmes on February 15 and 16 next.
The programmes include competitions on drawing, descent hand writing,
poem recitation and patriotic song for the children and adolescents to be
arranged at 3 pm on the Town Hall premises in Rangpur city on February 15
(Friday).
On February 16 in the morning, leaders of the DWSS will place wreaths at
the grave of Dr Wazed Miah, arrange Ziarat and offer Fateha in his birthplace
village of Laldighee Fatehpur under Pirganj upazila in the district.
Milad and doa mahfils will be arranged and special munajats be offered
at different mosques after Asr prayers seeking eternal peace for the departed
soul of Dr Wazed and well-being of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed
Joy, Saima Wazed Putul and their other family members.
A discussion on the life and deeds of nuclear scientist Dr Wazed will be
arranged at Town Hall auditorium at 6:30 pm on February 16 and prizes, crests
and certificates will be distributed among winners of different competitions.
Childhood friends, classmates and family members of Dr Wazed, academics,
intellectuals and civil society members will take part in the discussion on
his life, deed, personality, excellent character, dozens of memories,
unparallel talent and human qualities.
Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Joynul Bari will attend the discussion
as the chief guest with President of DWSS and noted educationist professor Dr
Hamidul Haque Khondker in the chair.
Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib as the chief guest will address the
discussion to be moderated by General Secretary of DWSS Saiful Islam
Jahangir.
Talking to BSS today, General Secretary of DWSS Saiful Islam Jahangir
said the programmes will remain open for the people from all walks in life
and requested all to be present in the two-day programmes to celebrate the
birthday of Dr Wazed.
Similarly, Dr Wazed Foundation, Begum Rokeya University, district and
Pirganj upazila units of AL and its associate bodies and family of Dr Wazed
have will celebrate the 78th birthday of the nuclear scientist in a befitting
manner.
