WB country director meets LGRD minister
DHAKA, Feb 13, 2019 (BSS) – The World Bank Country Director for Bangladesh, Qimiao Fan today met the Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister (LGRD), Tajul Islam at his office here.
“Bangladesh is a smaller state than Louisiana and has about half of the population of the United States, but the development of Bangladesh is very satisfactory…World Bank is Bangladesh’s largest development partner,” said Qimiao Fan while exchanging views with the minister.
“With the kindness of our PM, shelter centres and roads are being constructed for the Rohungyas,” said Tajul while talking to the WB Country Director.
The minister expressed his hope that World Bank will continue its help, even regarding the Rohingya crisis.
Robert Saum, World Bank’s South Asian Regional Integration , Shireen Juma, Partnership Director Country Programme Co-ordinator of Bangladesh and Programme leaders Sanjay Shrivastav, and Christian Eigen-Zucchi were present, among others , at the meeting.
