Pahela Falgun celebrated in Ctg with enthusiasm

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 13, 2019 (BSS)- Pahela Falgun, heralding the arrival of
spring, the king of all seasons, was welcomed by people of the port city with
flowers, poems, songs and dances today.

The port city put on a colourful festive look celebrating the first day of
Bangla month Falgun with several socio-cultural organisations and educational
institutions organised a wide range of programmes marking the day.

Pahela Falgun heralds the first day of the spring and was marked with
festivity and welcome songs but this year, Falgun welcomed.

People of port city attired in traditional dresses started pouring onto
the streets since morning to exchange pleasantries with their near and dear
ones.

Proma Abriti Sangsad organised programmes at CRB Serishtala with chorus
songs, folk dance and folk music, dance of indigenous people, recitation of
poems, drama and procession in two phases.

The first phase began with classical dance around 8 am followed by
rendition of chorus and solo songs and poetry recitations and the second
phase ended with a procession brought out from the organisation premises.

Rashed Hasan, president of Proma Abriti Sangsad, presided over the
function while City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin inaugurated the function as the
chief guest.

Poet Abul Momen, Assistant High Commissioner of India to Chattogram Shri
Anindya Banerjee, General Manager of Bangladesh Television Chattogram center
Netai Kumar Bhattacharjee and Managing Editor of the Daily Azadi Wahid Malek
addressed the function, among others.

Bodan Abriti Parishad also organised separate programmes with chorus songs
and dance which was held city’s DC hill premises around 10 am today.

Thousands of visitors thronged at DC hill from Chattogram Press club
premises to celebrate the day and enjoy various events.

People from all walks of life, mostly students of different schools and
colleges, were marching towards the center point of the celebration to hang
out with friends and beloved ones.

Girls in Bashonti (yellow) sharees and adorning floral ornaments and boys
in colourful panjabis participated in various events in a jovial mood.

Different private universities and colleges also arranged programmes
marking the day.
