Former judge fined for contempt of court
DHAKA, Feb 13, 2019 (BSS) – A former district judge was fined today for not
providing protocol to the then High Court Judge in 2003.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice S
M Kuddus Zaman passed the order, issuing a couple of directions in this
regard.
The court also asked Supreme Court Registrar General and Law Secretary to
compile the directions and publish it as circular.
The former Feni district judge was ordered to pay the fine within 15 days,
or to suffer seven-day imprisonment in default.
“The court has acquitted the then najir and nayebe najir of Feni District
Court from the charges of contempt of court as it found the then district
judge Firoz Alam guilty,” defence counsel Minhajul Haque Chowdhury told
newsmen.
