Two police officers remained in custody over rape charge in Manikganj
MANIKGANJ, Feb 12, 2019 (BSS) – A judicial magistrate court here today ordered two
junior police officers to be remanded in police custody for six days for interrogation
hours after they were arrested over a rape charge, court officials and police said.
They said judicial magistrate M Golam Sarwar ordered their interrogation in police
custody as Sub Inspector Sekandar Hossain and Assistant Sub Inspector Mazharul Islam as
police produced them before his court with a remand prayer seeking 10 days for their
interrogation.
The two officers, posted in Sarulia Police Station, were accused of raping a 20-year
old woman confining her in a rest house last week.
Officer in charge of the police station Aminur Islam earlier said the duo were
immediately confined in police lines while warrants were issued for their arrest as an
internal investigation led by additional police superintendent of Manikganj found
validity of the complaint.
