ACC seizes another SUV from PDB’s CBA leader
DHAKA, Feb 12, 2019 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today
seized another Pajero Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) from the clutches of CBA
president of power Development Board (PWB) and also its former assistant
accountant Zohirul Islam Chowdhury.
With seizure of the vehicle, the commission has so far seized two SUVs
of PDB from two CBA (collective bargaining agency) leaders in the last two
days.
Zohirul has been using the car since 2009. Around Taka one crore has
been spent in the last nine years for its fuel, salary of driver and
maintenance cost in the last nine years.
Director General (admin) of the commission Muhammad Munir Chowdhury said
that they will launch a probe into the matter to find out how a SUV car was
allotted to CBA leader.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday seized a Pajero Sport
Utility Vehicle (SUV) of the Public Works Department (PWD) from the
possession of its former steno-typist and also CBA leader Md Alauddin Mia
from the city’s Motijheel area.
“A squad of the ACC conducted the raid following the receipt of an
allegation to this end over its hotline 106,” deputy director (public
relations) of the ACC told BSS.
During the raid, the ACC came to know that Alauddin has been using the
SUV of the PWD for the last 10 years. The CBA leader took Taka 35.10 lakh for
diesel and Taka 37 lakh for salary and other expenses of the drivers from the
PWD in the last 10 years.
Alauddin, who is now on post retirement leave (PRL), used the SUV
flouting the service rules as no third class employee is entitled to get any
fulltime vehicle in accordance with the law.
The commission is set to conduct an inquiry into the matter to take
legal action
