DHAKA, Feb 12, 2019 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs
Minister Anisul Huq today said Rohingyas have suffered much sexual violence
in the Rakhine state of Myanmar.

“Following the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we are now
trying to lessen the traumas of Rohingyas those took shelter here in
Bangladesh. We are taking steps to ensure peace for them,” he said.

The minister said these while talking to United Nations Secretary
General’s special envoy on Sexual Violence in Conflict, Pramila Pattern at
his secretariat office.

“We don’t have any problems regarding sexual violence in conflict. Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina on her personal initiative gave shelter to Rohingyas
here, arranged food for them. We are looking into all the other issues as
well and continuing discussion with Myanmar,” Anisul added.

While talking to newsmen after coming out of the meeting, the law
minister said the world has appreciated Bangladesh and Sheikh Hasina’s
sympathetic gesture towards Rohingyas.

“We have tackled some other minor problems like trafficking with iron
fist and these are not being occurring anymore now,” he further said.
