Boro cultivation begins in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, Feb 12, 2019(BSS)- Farmers in the district have started Boro cultivation with a target of bringing 46,500 hectares of land under its cultivation this year.

Department of Agriculture extension (DAE) sources said a total of 46,500 hectares of arable land have been brought under the Boro cultivation in all five upazilas of the district with the production target of 3,27,000 metric tones of fresh Boro rice.

Earlier, the DAE of Panchagarh distributed high yielding Boro seeds, fertilizers among the farmers at a free of cost.

The department has given training on modern technology to the farmers to achieve the production target.

Different commercial banks includes Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank have given the short term loan in few interest among the farmers for bumper Boro production.

Deputy director of DAE Md Abu Bakkar Siddik told BSS the field level of Agriculture officers are monitoring the Boro field and giving necessary advice to the farmers to avert the pest attack on Boro field.
