Road accident kills schoolgirl in Khulna
KHULNA, Feb 11, 2019 (BSS) – A schoolgirl was killed and 30 students and
teachers were injured in a road accident on the Satkhira-Khulna highway in
Chakundia area of Chuknagar under Dumuria upazila of the district today.
The deceased was identified as Meghla, 14, a student of class eight of
Science and Technology School and College under Sadar upazila in Jashore
district.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dumuria Police Station Aminul Islam Biplob said
the accident occurred when a picnic bus, boarded of 60 people including
students, teachers and employees of the school, skidded off the road and fell
into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving
Meghla dead on the spot and injuring others.
Being informed, firefighters rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and
send them to the hospitals.
Among the wounded, 15 were given first aid, 12 were admitted to a Local
Health Complex and three were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital
(KMCH) in critical conditions.
