Int’l fire safety expo begins Thursday

DHAKA, Feb 10 (BSS) – The sixth international fire safety and security expo-2019 will begin in the capital on Thursday aiming to encourage private sector entrepreneurs to come forward to ensure fire safety and security.

The Electronic Safety and Security Association of Bangladesh (ESSAB) is going to arrange the three-day fire safety and security exhibition at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre here.

Speaking at a press conference today, ESSAB president Motahar Hossain Khan said Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rejaul Karim will inaugurate the expo at 2:30 pm on February 14.

Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Benazir Ahmed, director general of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence Brigadier General Ali Ahmed Khan, FBCCI president Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin and BGMEA president Siddiqur Rahman will be present at the inaugural session.

“Safety and securities agencies from 26 countries, including the USA, the UK, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, Turkey, China and India, will take part in the expo. A total of 70 stalls will be installed in the fair,” Motahar said.

Members of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence will conduct a demonstration in the fair. Besides, four seminars on ‘Smart City’, ‘Cyber Security and Digital Transformation’, ‘Industrial Fire Safety Solution’ and ‘Fire Hazards of High Rise Building’ will be held during the exhibition.

Director general of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence Brigadier General Ali Ahmed Khan and convener of the exhibition and ESSAB joint secretary M Mahmudur Rashid were, among others, present at the press conference.
