PM mourns death of Rashid Suhrawardy
DHAKA, Feb 9, 2019 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Rashid Suhrawardy, the only son of the legendary political leader, former Prime Minister of erstwhile Pakistan and the president of All Pakistan Awami League late Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy.
In a condolence message, the prime minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
Rashid Suhrawardy died at his London residence on February 7 last.
According to police, the cause of his death has not yet been known officially as he was found dead at his residence, Press Minister Ashequn Nabi Chowdhury of Bangladesh High Commission in London said in a release today.
Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, the father of the deceased, was a Bengali politician and a lawyer who served as the fifth Prime Minister of Pakistan, appointed in this capacity from Awami League on September 12 in 1956 until resigning on October 17 in 1957.
