DHAKA, Feb 9, 2019 (BSS)- Tigers received a big blow ahead of their upcoming tour of New Zealand as star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan had been ruled out of the three-match ODI series starting on February 13.

Shakib sustained an injury to his left ring finger while batting in the final of the 6th edition of Bangladesh Premier League T20 on Friday evening and has been ruled out of the ODI series against New Zealand later this month.

“An X-ray was done after the match and the results have confirmed a fracture on the left ring finger. The affected area will now have to be immobilised for around three weeks,” Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury was quoted as saying in a BCB media release.

The ace all-rounder’s previous injury that he sustained during the tri-nation series final against Sri Lanka last year, before a most important do-or-die match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup, eventually forced him to return home without finishing the tournament.

Later, surgery and rehabilitation kept him out of action for a long period. During his time, the all-rounder even feared his left little finger might never heal completely again, but managed to pass the fitness test ahead of the squad selection for the Caribbean series.
