11th JS forms eight standing committees

SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 6, 2019 (BSS) – The 11th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) today
formed eight Parliamentary Standing Committees on various ministries.

With Leader of the House and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s approval, Chief
whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury proposed the names of the committees and the
members following the Rules of Procedure.

The JS with Deputy Speaker M Fazley Rabbi Mia in the chair, unanimously
adopted the proposals by voice votes.

The committees are- Parliamentary Standing Committees are on Finance
Ministry, Ministry of Industries, Commerce Ministry, Health and Family
Welfare Ministry, Food Ministry, Agriculture Ministry, Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and Ministry Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.

Abul Hasan Mahmood Ali was elected as the chairman of the Standing
committee on the Ministry of Finance. The members of the committee are-
Mohammd Abdus Shahhid, Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury, Nazmul Hasan, Kazi
Nabil Ahmed, Ahmed Feroz Kabir, Selima Ahmed and Rana Mohammad Soyeb.

Chief Whip proposed Amir Hossen Amu as the Chairman of the standing
committee on the Ministry of Industries while other members are AKM Fazlul
Haq, Habibur Rahman Molla, Shamim Osman, Abul Kalam Mohammad Ahsanul Haq
Chowdhury, Abu Reza Mohammad, Mohammad Shahiduzzaman and Kazimuddin Ahmed.

Tofail Ahmed was elected as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing
Committee on the Ministry of Commerce while the other members are AKM
Bahauddin, Mahmudus Samad Chowdhury, Yousuf Abdullah Haroon, Hasan Imam
Khan, Tanzim Alam Siddiqui, Selim Altaf George and Riafat Hossen Khoka.

Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim was elected as the Chairman of the parliamentary
standing committee on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Members of
the committee are- Murad Hasan, AFM Ruhul Haq, Mohibur Rahman Manik, M
Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, Younus Ali Sarker, Mansur Rahman and Abdul Aziz.

The Jatiya Sangsad elected Mohammad Nasim as the Chairman of the
parliamentary standing committee on the Food Ministry while the other
members of the committee are- Nurul Islam Nahid, Hazi Mohammad Selim, Atiur
Rahman Atique, Dhirendra Devnath Shambu, Abdul Hai, Ainuddin and Ataur
Rahman Khan.

Begum Matia Chowdhury was elected the Chairman of the parliamentary
standing committee on the Agriculture Ministry. The other members of the
committee are Imazuddin Pramanik, Moslem Uddin, Omor Faruque Chowdhury,
Abdul Mannan, Mamunur Rashid Kiron, Anwarul Abedin Khan and Joya Sen Gupta.

Faruque Khan will head of the committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
while the other members are Shahriar Alam, Nurul Islam Nahid, Golam Faruque
Khandoker Prince, Abdul Mazid Khan, Habib-e Millat, Nahim Razzak, Kazi
Nabil Ahmed and Nizam Uddin Jalil Don.

Parliamentary Standing Committe on the Ministry of the Local Government,
Rural Government and Coopreratives was formed with Khandoker Mosharraf
Hossen as its Chairman. The other members of the committee are Mashiur
Rahman Ranga, Sheikh Afil Uddin, Rebeka Momen, Razi Mohammad Fakhrul,
Mohammad Shahe Alam, Sanowar Alam and Abdus Salam Murshedy.
