BSTI destroys 2,000 unauthorized water jars in city
DHAKA, Feb 6, 2019 (BSS) – A surveillance team of Bangladesh Standard and
Testing Institution (BSTI) today destroyed 2,000 jars of water as those were
marketed without any approval from the BSTI.
The team also destroyed four illegal factories involved in manufacturing
jar water, said a BSTI press release today.
The vigilance team visited several small and medium scale water bottling
factories in Rayer bazaar, Hazaribag, Gedartek and Tejgaon industrial area.
BSTI director (CM) engineer SM Eshaq Ali led the team during the drive.
The factories were destroyed for filling the jars with water from the
supply line in an unhygienic and sordid environment as well as selling water
without any sort of purification.
Another BSTI team today filed cases against five organizations for their
involvement in using faulty measurement devices.
The organisations against which BSTI filed cases included: MS Mithai
Sweets and MS Bhagyakul Mistanna Bhandar, MS Century Sweet Bakery and café,
MS Raymond Fabric and MS Khalil meat store.
