Bangladesh to open new missions at few foreign countries

SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 6, 2019 (BSS) – Foreign Minister A K Abdul Momen today
said the government has a plan to open more new missions in few foreign
countries considering the necessities of the government as the country has no
mission in 134 countries out of 193 countries under the United Nations.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said this while responding to a query placed
by treasury bench lawmaker Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury of Sylhet-3 in the Jatiya
Sangsad here.

Under the plan, the new Bangladeshi missions will be opened at Guangzu and
Shanghai in China, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Laos and Kazakhstan under the
continent of Asia, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Tunisia, Tanzania and Ghana in Africa,
Ireland, Scotland, Frankfort in Germany, Bulgaria, Hungary and Ukraine in
Europe, Melbourne in Australia and New Zealand under Oceania and Argentina,
Chili and Sao Paulo of Brazil under South America.

Apart from this, the minister said the government has completed all the
administrative process to open Bangladesh mission in Chennai and Rumanian
capital Bucharest.

At present, Bangladesh has a total 77 missions at 58 foreign countries in the
world.
