Shippers’ council leaders call on Khalid Mahmud
DHAKA, Feb 5, 2019 (BSS) – A four-member delegation of Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh (SCB) today called on State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury at the latter’s office here today.
The delegation apprised the minister about activities of the organization and said the association is playing an important role in the policymaking for the interest of the exporters’ related ministries.
At the same time, the SCB is cooperating with the government in international trade negotiations, the delegation said.
The state minister assured the SCB leaders of all kinds of support to further strengthen it.
He said development activities of the country have to expedite in coordination between government and non-government institutions.
SCB was established with the government initiatives and assistance to expand export of jute and jute goods, garments, frozen food and handicrafts and to protect and promote the interests of exporters.
Led by its chairman Md. Rezaul Karim, the other members of the delegation included Senior Vice-Chairman Ariful Ahsan, Directors Arju Rahman Bhuiyan and Syed Md. Bakhtiar.
Later, a representative of Bangladesh Cargo Vessels Owners Association also called on the state minister at his office here. The leaders of the associations urged the minister for support in resolving their various problems.
