Zahid for creating awareness of institutional child delivery
DHAKA, Feb 5, 2019 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid
Maleque today laid emphasise on creating awareness across the country for
creating awareness of institutional child delivery to ensure safety for both
mothers and newborns.
“To achieve the health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it is
crucial to have a delivery in a health facility by a skilled attendant which,
reduce chances of mothers and newborns becoming ill or dying,” he said.
He gave the directives to the authorities concerned to take proper steps to
increase the deliveries at healthcare facilitates specially at Chittagong and
Sylhet divisions, said a press release.
Zahid was presiding over a views exchange meeting with Family Planning
Directorate officials at the health ministry at Secretariat here.
He also urged local leaders, teachers, social and religious leaders to get
involved in the awareness programmes.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr M Murad Hasan, Secretary
(Health service division) M Asadul Islam, Secretary (Health Education and
Family Welfare) G M Saleh Uddin, Director General (DG) of Family Planning
Directorate Dr Kazi Mostafa Sarwar, DG of Nursing and Midwifery Directorate
Tondra Shikder, among others, were present.
