DHAKA, Feb 5, 2019 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today directed lower courts
concerned to dispose of narcotics related cases, in which the charges have
already been taken into cognizance, within next six months.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice
Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order, after hearing bail plea of an accused
of one such case.

“Mizanur Rahman Baroi was detained with 600 yaba tablets on December 1,
2015. He has been in jail since then. A case was lodged against him under
Narcotics Control Act but no witnesses were examined in the case till today.
Later, he filed the bail plea with High Court. The court set Mizanur free on
bail,” Assistant Attorney General Eusuf Mahmud Morshed told newsmen.

The court has asked Deputy Commissioners, Superintendants of Police,
Officers-in-Charge and Investigation Officers to assist courts in this
regard.
