DHAKA, Feb 4, 2019 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today
formed a committee to probe the matter of Jaha Alam who was imprisoned
wrongly for three years.

“If the ACC officials have any negligence in Jaha Alam’s case, action will
be taken against them. That’s why a probe body is formed. An ACC director
will lead the committee,” ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood told reporters at the
Commission’s headquarters today.

ACC officials say Abu Hasnat Md Abdul Wadud, the director of the legal
wing of the national anti-graft agency, will be leading the body.

“We have formed the committee to look into the irregularities in the
entire matter,” Mahmood said.

Jute mill worker Jaha Alam, an innocent man who had been imprisoned since
February 2016, got released from Kasimpur Central Jail early today. Jaha Alam
was arrested earlier in graft cases filed by the national anti-graft watchdog
for allegedly swindling money from state-owned Sonali Bank.

The High Court released him from the charges yesterday.
