Maintaining cleanliness to improve environment stressed
RANGPUR, Feb 04, 2019 (BSS) – The common citizens side by side with
different government organisations, institutions, local government bodies and
NGOs should work unitedly for maintaining cleanliness to improve environment.
The observations came at a post-rally discussion organised by Rangpur
divisional unit of BD Clean, a voluntary organisation, at Scout Bhaban
auditorium in the city on Sunday afternoon as a part of its “Building a Clean
Bangladesh Campaign”.
Earlier, led by President of city Awami League Shafiur Rahman Shafi, a
colourful rally with participation of the members of BD Cleans’ divisional
unit, officials, teachers, students, civil society members and elite, was
brought out on the city streets.
Additional Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Abu Sufian
attended the post-rally discussion as the chief guest with Rangpur divisional
Coordinator of BD Clean Mahbubuzzaman Masum in the chair.
Freedom fighter Nurul Alam Khokan, Deputy Curator of Rangpur Zoo Dr Jasim
Uddin, Jubo League leader Murad Hossain, Chhatra League leader Zinnat Hossain
Lavlu and members of BD Clean, among others, addressed.
Chief Coordinator of BD Clean Farid Uddin addressed the occasion as the
main discussant narrating about the dream of the organisation for building a
clean Bangladesh by inspiring and involving every citizen of the country.
In their speeches, the speakers stressed on the importance of acquiring
practical knowledge by every conscious citizen on the utter essence of
cleanliness and keeping office premises, residential areas, homesteads and
open places clean.
Dr Jasim Uddin said there is no alternative to maintaining cleanliness both
at office premises, institutions, homesteads, open places and everywhere for
keeping the air fresh, improving environment to attain sound health that is
essential for every citizen.
The chief guest called upon everyone to put special importance on issues
like overall cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation and applying the knowledge and
experience from the campaign at their own homes and also educating the
neighbours.
He suggested every citizen for maintaining cleanliness everywhere to
improve environment and reduce the extent of diseases in the process of
building a healthier, meritorious and prosperous nation.
