Poem festival held in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Jan 29, 2018 (BSS) – A colourful poem festival organised by the ‘Anjolika Sahittyapatra’, a weekly literary magazine being published from Rangpur, was held at its office in the city last night.

A large number of poets of the divisional city participated in the festival, took part in an open discussion and recited their self-composed poems.

Chaired by Dilruba Shahadat, Poet and Editor of the weekly magazine, Regional Director of Rangpur Kendra of Bangladesh Betar Sayed Mostafa Kamal attended the festival as the chief guest.

Assistant Director of Rangpur Kendra of Bangladesh Betar AH Sharif and eminent industrialist Shahadat Hossain were present as special guests.

Noted Poets and literary personalities Abu Jafar Abdullah, Mahfil Haque, AKM Shahidur Rahman, Shahadat Hossain, Rakibul Hasan, Professor Shariful Amin Kochi, Basher Ibne Jahur, Lutfar Rahman Shaju, Sathi Begum, Emad Uddin Ahmed, Merina Lovely, Rasheda Begum Ruby, Tasmine Afroz, Mahbubul Islam, Aftab Hossain, among others, recited their own poems in the festival.

Speaking at the function, the chief guest termed poems as the sources of feelings, inspirations, expressions, love, affection, beauty, sadness, agony, hopes and joys of human being, society and civilisation as a whole.

Appreciating the weekly ‘Anjolika Sahittyapatra’ authority for arranging the poem festival, he laid stress on arranging such programmes frequently to revive the rich Bengali culture for building a peaceful society free from terrorism and militancy.
