Govt plans to enact separate salary structure for teachers : Dipu Moni
SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 3, 2019 (BSS) – Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni today said
the government is planning to enact separate salary structure for the teachers
in order to draw attraction of the meritorious students to the teaching
profession.
“The government is planning to set separate salary structure for the teachers
in light of the national education policy-2010, which would help make the
teaching professions lucrative for the meritorious students across the
country,” said the minister while responding to query placed by treasury
bench lawmaker Nurunnabi Chowdhury of Bhola-3 in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban
here.
To this aim, the government has already extended various facilities including
raising financial benefit for the teachers.
Under the facilities, the government has upgraded the assistant teacher post
of the government secondary schools to 2nd class-gezetted, she said, adding
that Bangladesh Civil Service Recruitment Rules-1981 has already been amended
to this end.
Arrangement of an increasing increment has been taken for the teachers who
have B.ED, M.ED and PHD degrees. arrangement has been taken to impart training
to the teachers in different tenures at home and abroad.
The government has earmarked Taka 20 crore in 2018-2019 fiscal budget for
higher education research sector.
The teachers working at the private educational institutes are being entitled
100 per cent of the government salary, the minister noted.
For the first time, the government has upgraded the salary of the private
institutes teachers and employees into new pay-scale declared by the
government in 2009 and the minster added that subsequently, the government
has issued gazette notification for providing salary to the private institute
teachers under the national salary scale, 2015.
At the same time, the government has made the salary and dignity of the
Madrasha teachers equivalent to the private college and school teachers, she
added.
