2 ‘fake’ ACC officials arrested
DHAKA, Feb 2, 2019 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Friday
arrested two people from the capital’s Hazaribagh area allegedly for
extorting money from government officials by impersonating them as Anti-
Corruption Commission (ACC) officials.
RAB personnel in a raid in Boro Boubazar area under Hazaribagh Police
Station arrested Anisur Rahman alias Babul,36, and Md Yeasin Talukder,23,
around 6 pm on Friday, company commander of RAB-2 police super Mohiuddin
Faruki told a press briefing held at its Kawran Bazar media centre.
It also recovered 21 mobile phone sets and 26 pieces of registered SIM
cards of different mobile operators from their possession, he added.
The arrestees impersonating them as ACC officials have long been
extorting money from government officials after threatening them to implicate
their names in the corruption cases, he added.
Legal action was taken to this end.
