3-day shadow UN conference begins in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Jan 31, 2019 (BSS) – A three-day shadow United Nations Conference-2019 (RCMUN-2019) began on Rajshahi College campus here today with the theme “Boosting global relations to end disparity, conflicts and natural disasters”.

Model United Nations and International Affairs of Rajshahi College, a UN model platform for youths, organised the conference.

Principal of Rajshahi College Prof Habibur Rahman formally inaugurated the conference at the college hall room at 10 am.

Chaired by Secretary General of RCMUN-2019 Abdullah Al Noman, the opening session of the conference was addressed, among others, by vice-principal of the college Prof Al Faruque Chowdhury, RCMUN-2019 adviser Samysathi Bhowmik, deputy secretary general Wahid Piash and under-secretary general Bapparaj.

Prof Habibur in his speech upheld the importance of such initiatives, and gave the participants clear views on the UN, its work, goals and activities.

He said Bangladesh is now a role model. “It has finalised its land boundary and sea boundary with India and Myanmar without any clashes.”

Around 300 participants from 30 college and universities of the country are taking part in the three-day event.
