Chhatra Sangram Parishad demands polling booths at dormitories
DHAKA, Jan 30, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) led alliance “Chhatra Sangram Parishad” today welcomed the Dhaka University (DU) authorities’ decision to set up polling booths of DU Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election at the residential halls.
“If the polling centres are not installed inside the halls, the democratic rights of the students will be hampered,” said a press release signed by the alliance co-ordinator and BCL central President Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon.
The other student bodies of the platform are– Bangladesh Chhatra Moitri (Warkers’ Party), Bangladesh Chhatra Andolon, Bangladesh Chhatra League (Jasad), Bangladesh Chhatra League (Ambia), Bangladesh Chhatra Samiti and Jatiya Chhatra Oikkya.
Meanwhile, Progotishil Chhatra Jote (Progressive Students’ Alliances), a platform of left leaning students’ bodies including Bangladesh Chhatra Union and Samajtantrik Chhatra Front, brought out a torch procession this evening demanding setting up DUCSU polling booths at the academic buildings instead of the halls so that “students cast their votes without any influence and panic”.
