Tk 4,280 cr project starts for livestock development
DHAKA, Jan 30, 2019 (BSS) – The Livestock and Dairy Development Project
(LDDP) at a cost of Taka 4,280 crore began for the development of livestock
and dairy sector.
The five-year project has formally started in January this year and it will
be completed by 2023, an official release said. Of the total figure, Taka
3,885.73 crore will be financed by World Bank.
The main objectives of the project are – productivity improvement, market
participation, resilience of small-holder farmers, agro-entrepreneurs,
operating in selected livestock systems and value chains in the target areas,
the release added.
The prime activities of the LDDP included enhancing production of livestock
sector, innovation, market linkage, development of value chain, developing
climate-tolerant infrastructure for improvement of livestock, creating
awareness among consumers, ensuring of nutrition and organizational capacity
building.
