Govt to make all islands as tourism heavens

DHAKA, Jan 30, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Civil Aviation and
Tourism M Mahbub Ali today said the government has set a target to make all
the islands across the country as tourism heavens with a view to attracting
more local and international tourists.

“Our aim is to make all tourist destinations more attractive for both
domestic and foreign tourists,” he said while speaking at freshers’ reception
of Tourism and Hospitality Management of Dhaka University at Hotel
Intercontinental here.

The state minister said the government is exploring new tourist
attractions across the country. “Tourism will be one of the largest
industries in the country soon under the skilled and dynamic leadership of
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said.

Ali urged all to be more vigilant so that no tourist, both local and
international, faces harassment anywhere in the country.

“We have to turn ourselves into a tourist-friendly nation,” he added.

The state minister said the passenger facilities will be enhanced at all
airports of the country to provide smooth services to tourists.

Ali said one of his major objectives is to revive the past glory of
national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines established by Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Dhaka University’s Business Dean Professor Shiblee Rubayeth-ul-Islam,
Chairman of Tourism and Hospitality Management Department Professor
Bodruzzaman Bhuiyan and Hotel Intercontinental General Manager James P
Macdonald also spoke on the occasion.
