Rony gets life imprisonment for double-murder
DHAKA, Jan 30, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sentenced Bakhtiar Alam
Rony, son of a former lawmaker, to life imprisonment for a double-murder he
committed around four years ago in capital’s Eskaton area.
Second Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Manjurul Imam passed the
order, also fining Rony Taka 50 thousand, to suffer six-month imprisonment in
default.
The court came up with the order as it found Rony guilty under section
302, but considering his mental and physical condition during the incident,
the court pronounced the lenient judgement.
An intoxicated Rony indiscriminately fired gunshots from his car near the
Dilu Road area of New Eskaton in Dhaka, on April 13, 2015. Rickshaw-puller
Abdul Hakim and CNG auto-rickshaw driver Yakub Ali got injured in the
incident and later succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.
