Exploring tourism potential in Panchagarh stressed

RANGPUR, Jan 30, 2019 (BSS) – Adoption of comprehensive tourism-friendly
planning and its proper implementation could help explore the enormous
potential of the country’s tourism sector for economic advancement.

Government officials and public representatives made these observations
today at a district level tourism affairs public awareness building workshop
held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner of Panchagarh.

Panchagarh district administration organised the workshop with assistance
of Bangladesh Tourism Board for officials of different government
departments, public representatives, private sector entrepreneurs,
professionals and civil society members.

The main objective of arranging the event was to identify prevailing
problems and issues in the tourism sector of Panchagarh and adopt a
comprehensive tourism- friendly planning for exploring tourism potential of
the district.

Deputy Commissioner of Panchagarh Sabina Yasmin attended the workshop as
the chief guest with Deputy Director (Local Government) for Panchagarh
Priyosindhu Talukder in the chair.

Chief Executive Officer of Panchagarh District Council Abdul Alim Khan
Wareshi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mohammad Golam Azam,
Additional Police Super Sudorshan Roy, Panchagarh municipal mayor Tauhidul
Islam and Panchagarh Pres Club President Shafikul Alam addressed as special
guests.

Executive Magistrate of Panchagarh, Suman Jihadi delivered PowerPoint
presentation in the workshop narrating the prevailing prospects and problems
in flourishing the tourism sector of the sub-Himalayan Panchagarh district.

The participants cited a number of places with historical interests,
archaeological sites and charming tourist spots in Panchagarh and discussed
their tourism prospects.

They put special emphasis on encouraging the private sector entrepreneurs
to enhance investments along with government initiatives to explore the
potentials in the country’s highly prospective tourism sector.

The chief guest discussed various pragmatic initiatives taken by the
present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for exploring the
tourism industry to further strengthen the national economy.

“We have to take more initiatives to attract travelers from both home and
abroad to develop the country’s tourism sector to strengthen the national
economy,” she added.
