LG, Samsung to start production in BD soon
DHAKA, Jan 29, 2019 (BSS) – The South Korean electronics giant LG, Samsung
will soon start manufacture of electronic goods in Bangladesh which will
reduce trade gap between Dhaka and Seoul.
This was revealed today while South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Hu
Kang-il paying a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen at
Foreign Affairs Ministry here today.
The envoy also mentioned that joint venture of South Korea’s leading
conglomerate SK group will set up LPG terminal in Bangladesh to facilitate
generation of power amid crisis of availability of natural gas.
The Foreign Minister said Bangladesh is an attractive destination for
Foreign Direct Investment and South Korea can take opportunity of the
prevailing congenial investment atmosphere here.
Momen thanked Korean Government for their political and humanitarian
support in tackling Rohingya crisis.
Foreign Minister also expressed gratitude for Korea’s development
assistance in infrastructure and industrial development of Bangladesh as well
as creating job opportunities for Bangladesh nationals in Korea.
Momen lauded Korea’s miraculous success in transforming into a developed
country within a generation and said it has inspired Bangladesh in its
endeavour to steer the nation towards a higher middle income country by 2021.
Korean Ambassador expressed gratitude to Bangladesh for its support to the
international initiative of denuclearization of Korean Peninsula.
