Stocks witness flat on lower transactions

DHAKA, Jan 29, 2019 (BSS) – Stock markets witnessed flat on Tuesday when
daily transactions declined on lower demand.

The day’s trade value at DSE declined to Taka 945.86 crore from Monday’s
Taka 1,009.55 crore and the daily trade fell to 25.45 crore shares from 27.64
crore of the previous session.

The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with
20.30 points up at 5,924.53. The Shariah DSES also followed the same trend
with 2.17 points down at 1,331.62. But, the blue-chip DS30 closed the day
with 0.48 points down at 2,046.29.

At the DSE, prices of 151 securities out of the day’s 347 closed higher
against 159 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were National Polymer, Asia Insurance, Provati
insurance, Prime Insurance and Janata Insurance while the major losing issues
were ACI, Saif Power, PLFSL, JMISMDL and Tosrifa.

EHL topped the turnover list followed by UPGDCL, Premier Bank, GP and
National Polymar.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward
trend with its major CASPI 46.25 points up at 18,190.65.

At the CSE, a total of 273 issues were traded while 114 closed higher and
126 closed lower as 1.38 crore shares worth Taka 37.74 crore changed hands.
