Call for introducing patent cell for industrial innovation

DHAKA, Jan 29, 2019 (BSS) -Leaders of the Bangladesh Indenting Agents Association (BIAA) today urged the Industries Ministry for launching a patent coordination cell to protect the ownership of the country’s industrial innovation.

They said patent registration services will have to be accelerated for ensuring commercial use of domestic innovation.

To this end, they demanded to include a representative of the BIAA in patent coordination cell.

The BIAA leaders made the call while meeting with Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun at his office in the city, according to a press release here today.

Among others, BIAA president Advocate Rofiqul Islam Masum, Senior Vice President M Nuruzzaman and Vice President AKM Azad, among others, were present at the meeting.

Humayun said indenting agents are playing a vital role to expedite the country’s industrializations.

He urged the officials of the Department of Patent, Design and Trademarks (DPDT) to accelerate the process of patent registration.
