Shahriar for drastic action against drug abuse, terrorism

RAJSHAHI, Jan 29, 2019 (BSS)- State Minister for Foreign
Affairs Shahriar Alam, MP, has called for drastic action
against drug-abuse, terrorism and militancy to free the
society from curses of the crimes.

He said the present government under the dynamic
leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is pledged bound
to combat militancy, drug-abuse and terrorism. So, the police
forces and other law-enforcing agencies should adopt
effective step to make the government effort a total success.

The state minister was addressing the launching ceremony
of Police Service Week- 2019 arranged by District Police
Administration in Baneshwar area under Puthiya upazila in the
district Monday as the chief guest. He also led a rally on
the occasion.

Dr Monsur Rahman, MP, Deputy Inspector General of Police
Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Kader and
Superintendent of Police Md Shahidullah also spoke.

Shahriar Alam urged all the police forces to earn
confidence and trust of the people through discharging duties
with utmost sincerity and honesty. He also urged them to
dedicate themselves to stamp out criminals including
militants and terrorists for ensuring peace and security of
the people.

He said that police will have to come forward with all
their efforts to keep up law and order in the city at any
cost to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the general
people. Police must come forward first to ensure rule of law,
he added.

State Minister Alam also said police force will have to
play supportive role for successful implementation of the
present government’s vision-2021 as the success of a
government largely depends on law and order situation
everywhere in the society.

He stressed the need for building cordial relation and
congenial atmosphere between police and general people to
attain the cherished goal of ensuing peace and social harmony
everywhere in the society.
