Ferry service resumes on Paturia-Daulatdia route after 7.30 hours
MANIKGANJ, Jan 22, 2018 (BSS) – The ferry service on Paturia-Daulatdia
route resumed today after it’s suspension of 7.30 hours due to dense fog.
Nair Mohammad Chowdhury, Assistant General Manager, Bangladesh Inland Water
Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Paturia ghat said BSS that the ferry service
was suspended from 1.45 am to 9.15 am on Monday due to poor visibility as the
dense fog blanketed the river bed.
About 400 vehicles, including passenger buses, trucks and cars remained
stranded at Paturia ghat at that time, he added.
Out of 16 ferries, 5 remained stranded in the middle of the river as the
ferry service was suspended. Of them, 6 ferries loaded with passenger buses
were stuck at Paturia and 5 at Daulatdia ghat.
The ferry movement resumed at 9.15 am today as the fog disappeared,
Chowdhury continued.
