2-day Int’l Conference begins at IU
ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, Jan 28, 2019 (BSS) – A two day-long International
Conference on “Global Peace and Harmony: The Risala-I Nur Perspective” began
at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia today.
Theology and Islamic Studies faculty of Islamic University (IU) and
Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture (IFSC) jointly organised the
conference at Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium on the campus.
University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan
addressed the inaugural session as chief guest while IU Pro-VC Professor Dr M
Shahinoor Rahman and Islamic Foundation Director General Shamim Mohammad
Afzal spoke as special guests with IU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr M Harun-
Ur-Rashid Askari in the chair.
Dr Alparslan Acikgenc, Professor of Uskudar University in Turkey, delivered
the keynote speech on the conference while Professor Dr AFM Akbar Hossain,
dean of Theology and Islamic Studies faculty of IU addressed the welcome
speech.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Islamic
University in Kushtia and Istanbul Foundation for Science and Couture, on
providing joint academic and research activities.
The researchers and scholars from eight countries will present a total of
71 articles in the event.
The conference will end on Tuesday.
