DU-TRUST-FUND (WITH PICTURE)
New Trust Fund established at DU
DHAKA, Jan 27, 2019 (BSS) – A new trust fund titled “Taibun Nahar Rashid and Abdur Rashid Trust Fund” has been established at the Faculty of Arts of Dhaka University (DU).
Ali Asgor Khurshid and Ali Bakhtiar Mahmud, two sons of Rashid family handed over a cheque for Taka 15 lakh to DU Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin today at the Vice-Chancellor’s office to set up this trust fund.
Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Dhaka University Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof. Dr. Abu Md. Delwar Hossain, Chairman of the Department of Philosophy Prof. Dr. Sajahan Miah, Proctor Prof. Dr. A.K.M. Golam Rabbani and Acting Registrar Md. Enamuzzaman were present on this occasion.
Thanking the donors, Prof Akhtaruzzaman said, “Members of Rashid family have started a new relation with DU by establishing this trust fund.”
The DU VC hoped that poor and meritorious students would be highly benefitted by this trust fund.
It may be mentioned that Taibun Nahar Rashid was a social worker, poet and writer.
Siena Heights University of Michigan State of USA gave her honorary D.Lit Degree in 2006 for her outstanding contribution to the society.
Abdur Rashid took his MA in Philosophy from Dhaka University in 1935. He also passed BCS (Bengal Civil Service) in 1937 and joined Cadre Service under British Government.
