International Customs Day observed in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, Jan, 26, 2019 (BSS) – Chattogram Customs House observed the
International Customs Day-2019 through various programmes today.
The theme of the day this year is “SMART borders for seamless trade and
transport,”.
Marking the day, Chattogram Customs House brought out a colorful rally from
city’s Customs House area around 8.30 am which ended at the same venue after
parading different important streets in the city.
MA Latif MP inaugurated the rally as the chief guest.
A seminar was organized at Customs House auditorium this noon marking the
day with Chattogram Customs Commissioner AK M Nuruzzaman in the chair.
Prokash Dewan, member National Board of Revenue, President of Chattogram
Chamber of Commerce and Industries Mahbubul Alam, Chattogram Customs,
Exercise and VAT Commissioner Mohammad Sayed Golam Kibria, among other high
officials and businessman spoke at the function.
Chief guest Latif said Custom House is prepared to provide services in 24
hours every day to facilitate faster trade through speedy clearance of export
and import commodities from the country biggest seaport.
“It would carry out all tasks of export-import consignments through keeping
all the offices dealing with cargo handling open for seven days a week aiming
to make import-export cargo handling easier,” he added.
Latif also urged Chattogram Customs House officials to work with sincerity
and honesty to remove the hassles of its clients and maintain transparency.
