BD hands over RCG chairmanship to Thailand
DHAKA, Jan 25, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh today handed over the Chairmanship of the Regional Consultative Group (RCG) to Thailand for the next one year for strengthening the coordination process to combat disasters.
Disaster Management and Relief Secretary Md Shah Kamal handed over the chairmanship to Major General Petcharat Limprasert of Defense Ministry, Thailand on the closing ceremony of a conference held at a hotel in the capital, an official release said here.
The Regional Consultative Group on Humanitarian Civil-Military Coordination for Asia and the Pacific was formed in 2014 to act as a regional forum that brings together humanitarian, civilian and military actors involved in disaster response preparedness planning and disaster response, including aspects related to the field of humanitarian civil-military coordination and the use of foreign military assets.
