BNP’s internal feuds may lead to its split: Quader

DHAKA, Jan 24, 2019 (BSS)- Turning down the allegation that the ruling party is trying to split BNP, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said internal feuds of BNP would break itself away in the wake of its poor performances in election and movements casting a spell of despair on the leaders and workers.

“We never consider BNP as a weak contestant. But their activities put the party at sixes and sevens. Now BNP will fall prey to spilt due to its internal wrangling,” Quader, also minister for road transport and bridges, told newsmen after attending a deal signing ceremony at a city hotel.

He said neither the government nor the Awami League has intention to split the party as “We want a strong opposition. We would welcome the elected members of parliament from BNP and urge them to come to parliament.”

Quader said BNP leaders are now making self-contradictory remarks as the tone of split is prevalent inside the party.

“I don’t think that with enemies inside the party there would need any more enemies from outside to split the party,” he said.

He also said Jatiya Oikyafront will also not last long as it is a hotchpotch alliance. “Everyone knows this hotchpotch alliance will not be able to go a long way,” he said.
