Three fake SIM traders held in Rangpur
RANGPUR, Jan 24, 2019 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested three fake SIM card traders from in front of Kutubbos Government Primary School under Pirgachha upazila of the district last night.
“On a tip off, an operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company from RAB-13 Battalion headquarters jointly with Pirgachha Thana police conducted a raid there and arrested the fake SIM card traders,” a press release said today.
The elite force seized 279 SIM cards with fake registrations, three electronic devices (tabs), five mobile phones, two fingerprint scanners and two pieces of TG cables from their possessions during the raid.
The arrested persons are Mahabul Islam, 20, of village Nagdaho and Abdullah Al Mahmud, 21, and Akram Hossain, 20, of village Birahim in Pirgachha upazila of Rangpur.
“During interrogation, the arrested persons admitted that they had been involved in cheating common people by selling SIM cards after registering those through forgery using information of the innocent citizens,” the release added.
After filing a case under the Digital Security Act, 2018 against the arrested persons in this connection, the elite force handed over them to Pirgachha police station today.
