DHAKA, Jan 21, 2018 (BSS)- Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the reconstituted cabinet committee on reviewing the report of the Ninth Wage Board for journalists and employees working in newspapers and news agencies will soon begin work for its speedy implementation.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reconstituted the cabinet committee consisting of seven members (five ministers and two state ministers) at the maiden cabinet meeting of the new government. Now the committee will work to implement the 9th Wage Board soon,” he said, speaking at a view-exchange meeting with reporters at his secretariat office here.

Criticizing the comments of BNP leader Rizvi Ahmed, Hasan said BNP should go for stocktaking the reasons behind their debacle in the last general election instead of exposing their political bankruptcy through press conferences. They are now giving incomprehensible speeches, he added.

Hasan, also the publicity and publication secretary of Awami League, said BNP gave an institutional shape to their inner conflict by giving eight hundred nominations in three hundred seats in the last parliamentary elections.

He said the candidates of BNP didn’t carry out their polls campaign. They joined the polls only to make it (election) questionable, he added.

Terming the polls environment as peaceful, the information minister said, “I as a convenor of Awami League polls publicity committee conducted the polls campaign in five ways–social media, mobile phones, programmes, street rallies and mass media. On the other hand, BNP didn’t hang even posters.”

Urging BNP leaders to judge themselves, Hasan said, “We also want a strong opposition party in the House.”
